Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Midtown Housing Coalition is committed to addressing the critical shortage of safe, inclusive, and affordable housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), as well as veterans and first responders living with disabilities, across Durham and the Triangle region of North Carolina.

We’re building more than homes—we’re building community!

Our Vision

At Midtown Housing Coalition, we believe everyone deserves the chance to live a vibrant, independent, and fulfilling life. That is why we are passionately committed to empowering people with disabilities by creating opportunities to live in a safe, supportive, and inspiring community. At MHC, independence is not just encouraged, it is celebrated.

Our dream is a thriving neighborhood of up to 20 thoughtfully designed tiny homes centered around a dynamic community hub. This Community Center will be alive with programs, activities, and events tailored to spark connection and personal growth for everyone in the neighborhood. We are not stopping there - family and friends will always have a place here, contributing to the warmth, inclusion, and spirit that defines our Coalition.

Together we are building more than homes - we are building a movement for independent living and lifelong community!
